A particular vision I have drawn and painted many different times, including a large tattoo version, Namastesis was named spontaneously by Eve Bradford upon seeing the piece for the first time in my Seattle studio in 2004. Her immediate understanding of the painting drew forth a hybrid word combined from ‘Namaste’ and ‘stasis’, now encompassing the state of being in which we recognize one another as ultimately divine. Two beings come together to form a third overarching consciousness when they see all things as One.
At some point, I realized that my perspective upon looking into this vision was from a fourth face, my own. This opens a deeper reflective symmetry and depth of meaning to the piece, as it draws us in to participate in the affirmation of unity.
